December 7, 2020 my world was flipped upside down. That was the day I got what would be the first of 4 positive COVID tests results for my household. 3 of my children had caught it as well as my husband. Some how I managed not to get it. It was now my job to take care of everyone and prevent myself as well as my other three children from getting it as well. My youngest had just turned 2 three weeks prior to his diagnoses and was not capable of wearing a mask the entire time or isolate himself from the rest of us. Some asked why couldn’t he just isolate with my husband since he was also positive. The answer to that is because although they were both positive my 3 children showed absolutely no symptoms unlike my husband who had all of them and took over 3 weeks to recover. After speaking with the Dr I knew it was time to buckle down. Everyone who was positive stayed in their own designated room. Because we are such a big family our children are paired up so my 2 girls who were covid free moved out to the family room. While my son and I stayed in the living room. Because my toddler was out in common areas my daughters and I had to wear a mask 24/7. My daughters would take them of briefly to sleep but because my son is attached to my hip I slept in mine. Important things to remember when someone tests positive are 1. Isolate for the entire time. Leave their food on a tray by the door and have them pick it up once you walk away. 2. Disposable every thing plates, cups, and utensils. Even for those who aren’t positive. 3.Everything that gets touched needs to get disinfected. 4. Vitamins are a huge help in supporting your immune system. I was advised to take vitamin C, Vitamin D and zinc by several doctors. ( that is actually what they sent my husband home with after his trip to the E.R for breathing complications.) Wal-mart has gummies for kids with all three vitamins that I still have my children take till this day. Doing these few steps consistently is what I believe prevented the rest of us from catching it.
